Julia is a Nationally Certified Counselor as well as a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional. Her work focuses on supporting children and teens as they navigate challenges including anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, family separation, and gender dysphoria.
As a trauma-informed counselor, Julia emphasizes the need to create safe and empowering spaces in which to heal. She helps her patients develop more effective communication skills, positive coping techniques, and a greater understanding of how to apply their unique strengths to overcoming adversity. With younger children, she employs the principles of Child-Centered Play Therapy which provides kids with a safe space to express emotions and solve problems through play.
Prior to joining the Wellsource team, Julia worked as a therapist in the adolescent partial hospitalization program at Kingwood Pines Hospital. She also has experience working in a community mental health clinic in both outpatient and intensive therapy group settings. She has many years of experience volunteering with children through various community and afterschool organizations. She continues to be a strong advocate for the safety and success of young people.
